The Story

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes with running a small service business. You are on a job. Your hands are full. Your phone rings. You cannot answer. By the time you are done - maybe twenty minutes later, maybe an hour - you call back. But they have already moved on. They found someone else. Another job, another customer, gone.

That is not a technology problem. That is not a business problem. That is just the impossible math of being one person trying to do everything at once. Do the work. Answer the phone. Schedule the next job. Invoice the last one. Repeat, every single day, forever.

We are engineers and builders at heart. When we started looking at how small businesses across Canada and the United States were losing money - not from bad service, not from bad products, but simply because the phone rang at the wrong moment - we could not stop thinking about it. The research was clear:

The average small business loses over $126,000 a year to missed calls. And the hardest part is that most owners do not even know it is happening.

We started asking a different question. Not “how do we help businesses answer more calls” - but “what if the phone was never a problem in the first place?”

That question became Kithmatic.

What We Believe

We are a small team at Driftel Labs, based in Toronto, building tools for people who work with their hands and run businesses with their brains. We believe AI has spent too long serving people who already have everything - big companies, well-funded startups, enterprise software buyers with procurement departments and IT teams.

Kithmatic is our answer to that. Not a chatbot. Not another SaaS product with a dashboard full of features nobody asked for. Just a system that makes sure every call gets answered, every appointment gets booked, and every customer feels taken care of - while the owner stays focused on the work they are actually good at.

We started in Canada because we know this market and we care about it deeply. And we are expanding into the United States because the problem is the same on both sides of the border. A missed call in Toronto costs the same as a missed call in Dallas. The small business owner's frustration is identical.

Where We Are

We are early. We are building alongside our first customers across Canada, listening carefully, and improving constantly. The US is next - and we are building Kithmatic to be ready for it from the ground up.

We are not a company chasing venture capital or racing to a press release. We are a team that genuinely believes this product will change things for the people we are building it for - and we want to prove that by doing the work, not by talking about it.
